If you live in the UK but have no time to attend a full time course at university; or if you plan to immigrate to the UK and would like to become a teacher there, you might be interesting in obtaining a qualified teacher status (OTS) through distant education.
To obtain a QTS you need one of the following qualifications: BEd, PGCE or a bachelor degree with QTS. In Scotland you "only" need a PGDE.
The Graduate Students Training Registry provides a search tool for those interested in teaching - those interested in a distance learning course should choose a part time mode.

"he Flexible Modular Primary PGCE/QTS programme is based at the Ambleside and London Campuses. It is accessible to students living in the North of England and the London area.
The programme is designed to provide flexible training for graduates with a range of different personal circumstances. For example, you may have prior experience in primary education, you may prefer to study at home, or you may have circumstances which prohibit you from enrolling on a full time PGCE course (e.g. childcare responsibilities, or the need to work part time).
